Chaffers Challenge Cup On Friday 5th December Isobelle (main award), Henry and Rebecca were presented with their Chaffers Challenge cups at a special assembly. They are pictured here with their proud parents. The Chaffers Challenge awards were donated by the Chaffers family as a thank you to the school after their three children successfully completed their primary education at South Wonston. The cups are awarded each term to 3 children in Years 1-5 for special achievement. Link Romania shoebox appeal
This year the children supported the 'Link Romania' appeal. The children were encouraged to bring in shoeboxes and items to fill the boxes, either for a child or an adult. 170 boxes were made up. The school then held a special assembly on Friday 28th November to mark the occasion and all those adults who had helped in the school over the year were invited to the assembly by way of saying 'thank you' for their support and help. The photograph shows a child from each of the twelve classes at South Wonston with some of the boxes ready to go. Former South Wonston and currently Henry Beaufort pupil James Benwell came into school to do a workshop with the whole school on drumming. James demonstrated various skills and beats on both acoustic and electronic drum kits and had the whole school dancing along!! We were amazed at the co-ordination and concentration required, particularly when Mrs Broadway had a go and was unable to do even the simplest beat! James was joined on stage by his brother Alex, currently in Year 6, who played on his bass guitar. It was a really enjoyable afternoon and we'd like to thank Henry Beaufort for allowing James to come and play for us. KS1 Theatre visit
An actor from The Krazy Kat Theatre Company single-handedly entertained the Infant children with a production of Goldilocks and How Many Bears?
In an unconventional style, he used an array of cleaning and gardening equipment to create less familiar characters from the traditional tale.
He used sign language throughout his performance and the children enjoyed the audience participation.
