The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about life in a frozen environment. They were given the task of taking care of an egg for a week – how do the penguins do it!
When the children visited the Gilbert White Museum in Selborne this week, trekking to the top of the hill and trying out polar expedition equipment gave them a real sense of the difficulties that are encountered by people who visit these extreme environments.
Huge thanks to Mr Ling who came into school to talk to the children about how the Navy takes helicopters to the Arctic Circle to practise for survival techniques for expeditions. The children also had a lot of fun dressing in Arctic clothing from Mr Ling’s kit bag.
