South Wonston Primary School Together, we will nurture, inspire, challenge and achieve

11th June 2018

This week Kestrels have continued to develop their understanding of poetry and the different techniques and features that poems might have. This has led to us reading a variety of different poems some of which have been quite funny. In Maths, we have been looking at angles and shapes. Year 4 have been learning about the different angles; acute, right angle, obtuse and straight line angles. Whilst Year 5 have been adding angles on a straight line using their knowledge of inverse.

In science, Year 4 recreated the digestive system from start to finish. We learnt how food travels through our bodies and how it is digested! Did you know it takes just 6 seconds for swallowed food to reach our stomach?! Year 5 have been investigating the Solar System, they went out on the field to put into perspective how far away the planets are from each other. They also compared the size of the sun and its surrounding planets using different objects such as a peppercorn, watermelon and beach ball.
