Friday 10th July
Hi Hedgehog Class,
How has your week been? I have thoroughly enjoyed "STEM week" this week. We read the story "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and had to make a bridge for the goats to cross, using newspaper and tape. We also read "Rapunzel" and had a challenge to make the tallest tower using plastic cups. I wonder if you could try these at home. I would love to see some pictures.
I can't believe next week is the last full week at school. I have set up a zoom meeting to celebrate the end of the year (you should receive the link details soon).
Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Hedgehogs,
It was so lovely to see some of you on zoom this week. I am pleased that you are having fun at home! We have enjoyed learning about "Superheroes" this week. We read a book called "Supertato". The evil peas came into our classroom and kidnapped the carrots. We had to turn into superheroes to rescue them. It was so much fun!
I hope you have a great weekend.

Hi Hedgehogs,
I hope you have had a lovely week at home and enjoying the sunshine. It has been great seeing all of your pictures. We have had a great week at school learning about the Olympics! We had "Sports Day" on Tuesday. We enjoyed running races, egg and spoon, javelin and hurdles. How many of you took part at home?
Today we are going to be making our own medals, using clay. I wonder if you could make your own too?
I hope you have a great weekend and I will speak to you all next week.

Hi Hedgehogs,
I have had another busy week. It was so so lovely to speak with you on Monday! I enjoyed listening to what you have been doing at home... It was great to see all of your smiley faces. I know I have said it before, but school is not the same without everyone here! I know how much you enjoyed our "draw it" challenges - I was wondering if you could draw a Hedgehog using the video below. It would love to stick them up in our classroom!!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Speak to you soon.

Hi Hedgehogs,
I hope you are all well. We have been learning about empathy this week. We watched a clip of "inside out" and we had to say how they are feeling. I wonder if you could do it too? We also read "the colour monster". Have you read this before?
I hope you have a lovely weekend. I am looking forward to our zoom chat on Monday!

Hi Hedgehogs,
Hope you are all ok!
Thank you again for all of your lovely "draw it" pictures! They are great! I am so pleased that you are enjoying them. I wonder if you can find a different "draw it" picture that you would like to copy...maybe an emoji, a unicorn or even a minion. Just type "how to draw a ..." into youtube. I would love to see what you can draw.

Good morning Hedgehogs,
How many of you have watched the teachers read a story? I have enjoyed having the opportunity to read lots of books, during this time. Have you?
I have loved reading your book reviews and story ordering on Purple Mash. I definitely think that Julia Donaldson is one of our favourite authors.
Where do you like to read a book? In your bedroom? Outside?
I was wondering if you could create a reading den. A special space for you to curl up with a book.
Once you have created your den just add cushions, blankets, cuddly toys… and books! I would LOVE to see what you create.

Hi Hedgehogs,
Happy VE Day! Wow, what a lovely day this bank holiday has been. I hope you are enjoying spending time as a family. What fun activities have you been taking part in? Did you decorate your house with bunting? Bake a Victoria sponge? Remember to email all of your pictures across.
Our close held a two-minute silence to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE day. Then, one of our neighbours played "The Last Post" on his trumpet. It was very moving, but lovely to listen to. Have you heard it before?
I hope you all have a great weekend. I look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Take care,

Hello Hedgehogs,
It has been great to hear from most of you this week. I know that some of you have been talking to your friends through Purple Mash / facetime, which is great! It's lovely to see that the weather has picked up again. I hope you are enjoying going for walks/bike rides as a family. I like taking Finley out for a walk every afternoon. I can not believe how fast the leaves have grown on the trees and how quick plants are growing. It is amazing what you notice when you have the opportunity to stop and look each day.
Thank you to everyone who has sent me their "draw with Rob" pictures. They are all SUPER!
The next picture I thought you might like to draw is...Gregosaurus!!! Give it a go. Remember to send me your pictures so I can upload them on here for everyone to see.
I look forward to hearing from you all soon. Remember, I am only an email away.

Hi Hedgehogs,
Can you believe it is May already! I hope the weather starts to improve. I am not enjoying the rain (even though I am sure the plants are.) How full are your rain gauges now?
I have thought of a fun activity that you might enjoy doing at home with your siblings/parents.
Can you design and make your own board game?
All you need is a piece of paper, colouring pencils and a lot of imagination! Do you need a dice? maybe a spinner? Does your board game need pieces for you to move? What are the rules?
I have given you a few ideas below of what your board might look like. I have made one before and it gave me hours of fun! Let me know how you get on.

Hi Hedgehogs,
How are you? The weather has definitely changed this week...who has enjoyed splashing in puddles? I took Finley for a walk yesterday and he spent most of the time rolling in the mud - let's just say he is no longer white! How many of you have started your science home learning and made a rain gauge? Have you had a look? I think it might look a bit different compared to last week. Which day has had the most rainfall so far? Let me know what you find out.
I have been SO impressed and proud of quite a few children this week who have message me to say that they can now ride their bikes without stabilisers! WOW!!!! Great work! I wonder who else can? (Send me some pictures.) I know it isn't easy..so keep going!
Keep sending your "draw with rob" pictures across. I have not had that many so far!
I will message again on Friday! Remember you can always message me on Tapestry and Purple Mash!

Good morning Hedgehogs
I can not believe that it is Monday again! I hope you are all keeping safe. Have you managed to go on a scavenger hunt yet? Did you find everything on the sheet? It was quite tricky, wasn't it!
Thank you to everyone who has sent across their Sonic pictures...they are AMAZING! You have all added so much detail. I am so proud of you all.
This week's DRAW IT challenge: Draw a peacock.
(I have attached the video below.) I chose a peacock because of all the beautiful rainbow colours that he used. I'm looking forward to seeing your drawings. Remember you can email your pictures via Purple Mash or Tapestry!
Missing you all.

I hope you are all well.
I have loved looking at all of your home learning this week - you have all been SO busy! I've enjoy seeing your pictures, so please keep sending them across. It makes me smile seeing what you have been getting up to at home.
I have attached a few pictures of your Easter diary entries (Y1) and your family pictures (YR) below. They are SUPER! If you haven't completed your 2do's, there is still time.
Y1s - have you all managed to look at "my maths" yet? There are activities on there for you to do too.
YRs - please continue with your maths activities that are in your home packs. (Thank you to everyone who has posted pictures on Tapestry.)
I know lots of you have enjoyed wearing your PE kits in the garden, so have also attached a "fun Friday" activity for you all below..to keep you fit and active. I wonder if you can complete the activity listed for each letter of your name! (You are lucky if you have a short name!) I am going to give it a go too - it looks like fun!
Anyway, I hope you have a lovely weekend and I will speak to you all soon.

Hi Hedgehogs,
Thank you to all of you who have sent across your "DRAW IT" challenge pictures. They look GREAT! I will be sharing your pictures on Monday, so you still have time.
I bet you are all wondering how the caterpillars are...?! Well over the Easter holidays Mrs Ferguson kindly offered to look after them and look...they have turned into beautiful butterflies!
I have been at school today. It is still so weird not seeing all of you. We went on a scavenger hunt outside. It was so much fun looking for the different things. I wondered if you would like to try this at home too. (We found it quite tricky looking for footprints and a snail.) Let me know how you get on.
I hope to speak to you all soon.

Hi Hedgehogs,
I hope you had a lovely Easter.
I have enjoyed looking at all of your pictures - we have a lot of bakers in Hedgehog Class (your cakes looked delicious!) I’ve been busy baking too. I made a Victoria sponge and lemon biscuits. If you have been baking, I would love to see some pictures.
It has been great staying in contact with you all on Tapestry and Purple Mash. I set some more 2dos this morning so have a look.
DRAW IT!
I know how much you all love drawing and colouring, so I thought I would create a “draw it” challenge! Rob Buddulph is an award winning author and illustrator who has made draw-along videos of characters from his books. I thought we could “draw with Rob” at home and I will then share all of your pictures, on here, each week. This challenge requires a lot of concentration and perseverance…I know you can do it!
This week I thought we could start with…Sonic the Hedgehog!

Hello again,
Can you believe that it is Friday already?! Thank you for sharing everything you have been up to this week. I have enjoyed reading your emails, seeing your pictures and looking at your work on Purple Mash. You have all worked extremely hard - I am so proud of you! It has been great to stay in touch with you all.
Question of the day:
Can you tell me something about you that you think I might not know?
I hope you all have a lovely Easter. Try and enjoy it..there are so many fun things you can do at home! Maybe you could create your own egg and spoon race? Make an Easter card? Write a story about the Easter bunny?
Feel free to continue emailing me/posting on Tapestry. I will still check on them so that we able to stay in contact! I will be posting on here again on Monday 20th April.
I miss you all. Speak soon.

Hello Hedgehogs,
It has been so lovely to stay in contact with you. I have now set up Purple Mash so you can all email me - I have left you all a little message, so have a look!
I have been in school today. We have made sock bunnies and designed our own Easter egg. What do you think about: a fish and chips egg? or a roast dinner egg?
Look at what has happened to the caterpillars. I am going to take them home over the holidays so I can take care of them.
Have you got any activities planned over Easter? (Craft, baking, egg hunt?)
Question of the day:
What would your Superhero name be? What power would you have?
Take care and speak soon.

Hi Hedgehogs,
Hope you all had a lovely weekend and have enjoyed spending time with your families. All of your comments on Tapestry and Purple Mash are making me smile I have added a couple more "2do" tasks..so have a look.
Question of the day:
Why are carrots orange? Why are pigs pink?
After completing the longest paper chain challenge on Friday, it got me thinking. What could you make if I only gave you ONE piece of paper? A paper aeroplane? An origami dog? Paper people chain? Give it a go!
I am back in school on Wednesday so I will give you an update on the Caterpillars.
Take care. I am missing you all.

Hi Hedgehogs,
I hope you are all well. I can not believe it is Friday already...this week has gone so fast! It has been great looking at all of your home learning. I have enjoyed looking at your writing about Spring lambs on Purple Mash. If you have completed a "to do" task, I have left a comment for you I will be added more "to dos" so keep an eye out for them! Thank you again to all of the YR parents who have posted on Tapestry!
Below I have posted some picture of the children at school today. I set them a challenge..I wonder if you would like to join in too? Whats the longest paper chain you can make using only ONE piece of paper?
We then joined them together...it was the length of the playground - IMPRESSIVE!
Question of the day:
If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do?
Something very exciting has started to happen to our caterpillars. I will share some photos next week.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Hello Hedgehogs,
Thank you so much to everyone who has uploaded pictures/comments on Tapestry. I have loved seeing what you have been doing at home - so please continue
Well done to everyone who has completed a "to do" on Purple Mash. I have left you a comment If you haven't, please have a look.
I was at school yesterday. (It was so strange that you were not all there.) I have uploaded some pictures of what the children got up to. We spent most of the day outside playing games. We even did an observational drawing of a daffodil. I wonder if you could draw me a picture of your favourite flower?
I have decided that each time I post on here I will leave a question to get you talking! It might encourage you to ask more questions...! Use your imaginations - there is no wrong answer.
YR's - upload your comment on Tapestry
Y1's - write your response in your book from your school pack.
Today's question:
If you could ask a wild animal a question, what would you ask?
Looking forward to hearing from you all.
