On Monday 21st January, Dragonflies and Kingfishers went on a trip to the Forest School in Itchen Valley Country Park. They had a fantastic time exploring wildlife and learning about survival.
They took part in three different activities during the day. The first activity was Camouflage games. They children had to find different bugs that had been hidden around the forest and then they discussed the reasons why some were easier to find than others. There was then a big game of hide and seek where they used camouflage cloaks and face paint to help keep themselves hidden. The second activity was forest arts and crafts. Some of the children made forest creatures out of clay whilst other used natural materials. To end the day there was a activity that involved building dens using both natural and man-made materials to build three different types of dens.
Dragonflies and Kingfishers had a fantastic day even though it was freezing cold. They learnt a lot about the forest and how we can use it to help us survive!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
