South Wonston Primary School Together, we will nurture, inspire, challenge and achieve

Wednesday 4th December 2019

To link with our topic of the history of toys, Mrs Coleman brought in and shared with us her bear which is 69 years old. She told us that she had had the bear since she was a child. We asked her questions to find out more about the bear. The bear is called Toffee and has been well loved. We really enjoyed this experience, thank you Mrs Coleman.

Wow! We have shared some fantastic homework today. It was lovely to see all the creations of toys made from various materials. Year 1 shared their new knowledge about toys with us. Well done everyone!

Website week 1 Autumn 2

This week we have been looking at fireworks. We discussed what we saw and heard whilst looking at fireworks. We have used adjectives and created poems. We have also looked at fireworks in our discovery time. We have created pictures and built rockets;.

Year 1 were very excited to explore the laptops and create pictures of fireworks and their favourite toys linking to our focuses.

Tuesday 22nd October 2019

We have discussed what season we are in. The children highlighted what happens in autumn, “the leaves fall down” and “leaves change colour”.

We are starting to look at poetry. We practiced and recited a poem adding actions. Then we performed to our peers.

This week in Rabbit class we have been discovering the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. We have thought about why Goldilocks might be sorry and written letters.
We are looking forward to making and trying porridge but before we do that we need to explore instructions.
We have followed instructions and given instructions.

Keep checking for our very own porridge instructions, yummy!

This week in Rabbit class in year 1 we have been investigating number. We have been comparing numbers and saying which is greater than and less than.

Today in Rabbit class we found a mess. The mess contained porridge, 3 bowls, 3 spoons, 3 chairs one of which is broken and a pillow. We predicted who we thought might have made the mess.

Rabbit class greatly enjoyed exploring the Gingerbread man story this week. First of all the Gingerbread men were in the classroom and we had to find them, predicting where they had come from. Then we found a trail and followed it documenting the clues. We then heard the story of the Gingerbread Man and sequenced the story through pictures and role play.
