Rabbits

Hi Rabbits,

Sadly this is my last website post. It has been a delight teaching you all this year and  I am so proud of how you have all been superheroes throughout this very different year.  Have a great summer and  I wish you the best of luck in your new classes next year.

Stay safe,  I will miss you all

Friday 17th July 2020

This week we have been focusing on classical music. To introduce our theme, we met an online orchestra and identified the 4 groups of instruments. Following this we identified that classical music can be used to tell a story, we focused on Peter and the wolf. Using what we had learnt so far, we looked at carnival of the animals, guessing what animal we thought it might be and then acted out the animal. We have had a great time exploring music. What have you explored at home? What is your favourite song? Can you create your own music?

This week we have had great fun exploring STEM. We linked each STEM challenge to a fairy tale. We had to build a tower for Rapunzel and make a bridge for the three billy goats. Have a look at the pictures below to see how tall our towers were and how strong and long we made our bridges. I hope you have had fun exploring STEM at home. What challenges did you complete?

Friday 3th July 2020

It has been SUPERHERO week! We have loved this week, focusing on Supertato in English to design and write about our own super vegetable. In maths we looked at Superworm. Together we have explored measure, counting forwards and backwards and pattern.

We were also pleased to increase the size Cobra at the bottom of the field. We all painted pebbles to add to the length of the Cobra to make him longer. If you wanted to paint your own pebble to add to the Cobra when you can you are welcome to. Our Cobra is in school for everyone to see.

Friday 26th June 2020

We have really enjoyed learning about the Olympics this week. The highlight has been sports day, where we competed in races, throwing and jumping events. I hope the children at home also enjoyed sports day this week. We have also written about our favourite sports and painted our own winning medals. Could you make a medal of your own?

I am really excited to see you all on our zoom chat next week. I can’t wait to find out about what you have been doing.

Enjoy the sunshine and stay safe

Friday 19th June 2020

Our theme this week has been refugees. We have looked at a story called 'The suitcase' and thought about how the character is feeling, what he might need to know and how we could help him. Throughout this we have looked at the world and discussed the 7 continents. We learnt a song to remember them and have mapped a journey across the world listing all the things that we would see as we flew.

It was lovely seeing everyone on zoom and hearing about the wonderful things you have been doing. Keep up the hard work whether you are at home or in school.

Take care

Friday 12th June 2020

This week we have been focusing on empathy. We have been reading Giraffes can’t dance, thinking about how Gerald is feeling at different points of the story. We discuss how we could cheer him up. To identify different feelings we have been expressing our emotions through our faces and making our own feeling spinners. How have you been exploring empathy?

Friday 5th June 2020

Hi Rabbits,

we have really enjoyed the 'Under the sea' topic this week. We have explored the book Tiddler, making predictions and retelling the story. We have also used our gross and fine motor skills to create our under the sea picture.

Have you read any under the sea books? Could you create your own sea world picture?

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Grover

I hope you have a great week Rabbits!

Hi Rabbits,

I hope you are all well. I have set some more tasks on my maths and purple mash for you which I hope you enjoy. Please keep emailing me and send me tapestry posts as I really enjoy hearing about what you are all doing.

I have been practising my story telling skills and you can now find another story on the google drive. Maybe you could practice your storytelling skills to your cuddly friends or family at home and film yourself. It would be wonderful to see on tapestry or via email.

Keep up the great work Rabbits,

Monday 4th May 2020

Hi Rabbits,

hope you are all okay. It has been lovely to hear from some of you about the skills you are developing. It is great to see your handwriting and some of you have been practising to ride your bike with no stabilisers. Wow!

Don't forget it is Monday so there are new challenges on my maths and purple mash for you. Remember to email me if you like via purple mash or post on tapestry for me to comment to show me your learning or ask me any questions.

In school we decided to make our own zoo using recycling materials. I wondered what animals you could make at home using your recycling. There are some ideas below. I would love to see your animals either via tapestry or email me a picture on purple mash.

Missing you all, stay safe,

Friday 1st May 2020

Hi Rabbits,

It's Friday! It has been a strange week again however it has been great to see all the home learning you are doing. Please keep sending it to me, emailing me and using tapestry, I really enjoy it.

Yesterday, in school, we celebrated Captain Tom's 100th birthday. Did you do anything to celebrate this? Could you make him a card/ medal / badge? Have a look at our creations.

Whilst making my medal I was looking for a circle shape, I managed to find one on the bottom of a cylinder shaped pot. I used this to draw around. When I got home I then noticed I had other circle shaped things all around my flat for example clock, glass, candle. This made me think, I wonder what shapes you have in your house, could you go on a shape hunt? Can you find 2d faces on 3d shapes?

Have a lovely weekend Rabbits,

Stay safe

I hope you are all well and keeping busy. It has been lovely to see more people using tapestry and to receive emails from you and your parents.

I am enjoying reading your book reviews year 1 and I look forward to finding these books to read in the school library.

Hopefully some of you have watched my story time and enjoyed it.

Today I made pizza at home. We got to choose our toppings and then we used pre-made pizza bases. I even made my own stuffed crust, fingers crossed it tastes yummy!

I wonder if you could design or make your own pizza. What would you put on top?

Take care Rabbits and keep up the good work,

hope to hear from you soon

It's Friday! I hope you have had a lovely week at home. It has been exciting to hear about all your learning about space, dinosaurs, plants and more. I hope you are enjoying my maths and purple mash too.

Yesterday, in school, we celebrated St George's day by making shields, dragons and retelling the story. We also danced with our hands.

Myself and Mrs Browne are missing you all.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Keep up the great work Rabbits,

Miss Grover

I have been busy reading all your purple mash work, tapestry posts and your emails. I am really enjoying receiving these so please keep them coming.

I am keeping myself healthy by exercising indoors each day and then going for a walk, I hope you are too.

I have also been letting out my creative side, by painting some of my favourite book characters. Can you paint your favourite character?

I am looking forward to going into school tomorrow to celebrate St George's Day with a small number of children. I wonder if you could do some St George work at home. Could you make a shield? Could you make a flag? Could you retell the story?

Stay safe Rabbits, missing you all,

Miss Grover

Hi Rabbits,

I hope you had a good Easter holiday, I hope the Easter bunny came and visited you and your family. But I hope you didn't eat too much chocolate! I really enjoyed my Easter egg but Joe Wicks training was tough this morning with my very full belly.

It's time to start the new term of learning in a different way which is new for all of us.

Year R - I am really enjoying seeing all your lovely work via Tapestry, please keep sending me this as I love to share your learning with you.

Year 1 - I have emailed you your my maths passwords, this is a new exciting resources please explore and complete your tasks.

I have set all of you 2do tasks on purple mash which I would love to see you complete at some point this week.

I hope you are enjoying the lovely weather, whether it is in a garden or going for a walk (cycle/scoot). I went for a walk yesterday and spotted many signs of spring. I wonder how many signs of spring you can spot?

As well as being active, I am reading lots of books. Have you read any books? Would you recommend them?

Over the Easter holidays, I played lots of board games. These were very fun and competitive. Could you or have you played any games? Who did you play with? Could you make your own board game using what you have at home? It would be lovely for you to share your creations with your families and then bring them into school when we reopen. I would love to play them with you!

Thinking of you all Rabbits, remember you can email me as well,

Miss Grover

Hi Rabbits,

I hope you have had another create, productive and fun week at home. It has been lovely to hear from some of you on purple mash via email as I am missing you all.

I hope like me you are keeping up with your Joe Wicks workouts and remember all those mindfulness activities we have done, maybe you could share your massage skills at home.

As we approach the Easter holidays remember to have fun.

I will be making chocolate rice crispy cakes, reading, colouring, walking and having an egg hunt.

I have already made my Easter wreath in school yesterday to hang on my door and I had some rabbit friends to help me.

It would be lovely to hear about what you do, year R via tapestry and year 1 via purple mash.

I hope you have a wonderful, restful and safe easter holiday, don't eat too much chocolate.

Wednesday 1st April 2020

Hi Rabbits,

It's Wednesday! I hope you all joined me in completing Joe Wicks PE lesson. They are hard but great fun. I wonder if you could create your own workout for your family to try.

Don't forget you can now email me on Purple mash. It would be lovely to hear from you all. Year R remind your parents that they can post pictures and videos on tapestry which I am enjoying seeing.

After seeing some pictures and speaking to your parents, I think it is a lovely idea that some of you have started a diary, writing a sentence a day of your favourite activity and drawing a picture (don't forget to use your phonics mat to help you). I am going to start one from today and when we return to school maybe we could share these.

Hope you are all staying healthy rabbits, thinking of you all,

Miss Grover

Friday 27th March 2020

Hi Rabbits

hope you are all well and taking care of your parents.

Today I completed the Lego challenge with some help of other members of rabbit class. How tall were your towers?

We are missing you all and I know you are missing your friends. You could write a postcard to your friend and we can share them when we return.

The answer to the riddle is "Monkey". Well done if you got it right. Check back on Wednesday for next weeks riddle.

Hope you have a lovely weekend

Miss Grover

Wednesday 25 March

Hi Rabbits

Linking to what we were doing, each Wednesday I'll be sending a riddle out.
Can you guess what it is and draw a picture?
I look forward to seeing your ideas.

"I have a long tail
I can swing from trees
I have long arms
I am very clever
What am I?"

Wednesday 25 March

Hi Rabbits

hope you are all okay. It was really nice to speak to some of you and your parents yesterday and I look forward to speak to more on Friday.

During this tricky time I have been trying to enjoy the seasonal changes I can see by drawing a daffodil whilst I am outside getting some fresh air. Could you draw what you see either on a walk or out the window?

Whilst inside I have baked mini egg cakes and an upside down pineapple cake. It was really tricky measuring all the ingredients and I had to be careful when I cut the pineapple. It tasted really yummy! I wonder if any of you could bake some yummy treats.

Rabbits keep smiling and make sure your discovering (even if it is inside).

Thinking of you all, have fun

Miss Grover

Monday 23 March

Hope you're having a lovely time at home in the sunshine. We have been enjoying the fresh air and using crayons to do different rubbings. I was wondering if you could do some rubbings at home. What shapes and patterns can you find? Remember to stay safe and check this page for a Miss Grover update. Thinking of you all.
