Friday 10th July 2020
We have had a really busy time in school. We were looking at SUPERHEROES! We started to think about what our superhero power was. Some people were brilliant at running, phonics, reading or art and some people were just brilliant at everything. We made superhero pictures with our faces on. This week we have been looking at fairytales but each one had a different challenge. We listened to the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and had a go at making bridges out of newspaper, that was very tricky. We had some great ideas! We heard about Rapunzel and we built towers to rescue her.
Hope you are all keeping safe

Hi Squirrels,
I hope you have had a good week, it has been Olympic week in school. We had great fun on our sports day. We had running events, throwing events and an egg and spoon race. I hope you tried out some things at home, balancing an egg on a spoon is really tricky! So this week we have been thinking about winning, losing and taking part. We have listened to the story of the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the race! It was really hot in school this week so I hope you managed to keep cool. Next week is SUPERHERO week, we can't wait!
Have a lovely weekend.

Dear Squirrels,
we have had a busy week in school, thinking about refugees and people moving to a new country. We thought about how they might be feeling. Mrs Flynn and I loved seeing everybody on our zoom call and finding out about what you have been doing while you have been at home. We discovered that we have scientists, explorers, dancers and animal experts. You have been doing amazing things! We are especially proud of everyone who has learnt to ride their bike. It is a really tricky skill to learn and takes lots of practice. It reminded me of incy wincy spider who had to keep on trying. We even heard about someone who did indoor camping in their living room, that sounds like a really good idea. I am missing the sunny weather but the flowers in my garden are enjoying the rain.
Enjoy the weekend

We have had a really busy week in Squirrels. We have been learning about other people's feelings and understanding what makes them feel sad or happy. We have also been doing lots of counting and adding two numbers together, have you been doing that at home? We are getting much better at adding using pictures and a number line. In English, we read the story of Gerald the giraffe who couldn't dance. The story had a happy ending after all.
Have a look at our under water sea picture, have many fish can you count?
Friday 5th June
Hi Squirrels! It has been lovely seeing some of you in school this week and also catching up with what you have been doing at home through your emails. We have really enjoyed exploring under the sea. We found out about different creatures who live there and created some wonderful art using water colour paints and coloured paper. We also did some work on a story about a fish who is always late for school! Can you guess what the story was? Hope you all enjoy your weekend and take care.

Wednesday 20th May
Hi Squirrels! Today Mrs Freeland, Mrs Palin and I were all in school! We had a lovely day learning about another country. We found out all about Australia. We looked at where it was on a map, its flag and some of its famous landmarks. We then did some research on some of the unique animals that live there like platypus, koala and kangaroos! In the afternoon, we looked at some aboriginal art and recreated our own dotty pictures of Australian animals and symbols. We also enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine. Hope you've all had a lovely day too.
Take care.

Hi Squirrels!
What another lovely sunny weekend! I spent lots of time in my garden and took Ted on two walks. One of them we had to walk up a big hill! The view from the top was beautiful, I could see fields, horses, cows and lots of different trees. I also noticed some of the gorgeous colours of the flowers that have started to bloom. It was a lovely walk and I'm really pleased I did it. Ted loved it too but needed a nice long drink when we finished! I hope you all enjoyed your weekends too. I look forward this week to finding out what countries you learn about at home.
Friday 15th May
Hi Squirrels. How are you all? This week seems to have gone really quickly and it is already the weekend! It looks like you've worked really hard again this week and I hope you have a relaxing weekend with your families. We've been learning about volcanoes in my house this week and we have really enjoyed it. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to go for a nice long walk with my dog Ted. He is really enjoying his walks but is in real need of a haircut! Look out for your new 'to do' jobs on Purple Mash next week. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Hello Squirrels,
I was thinking about you all especially today because I was in school. I really enjoyed seeing the English and Maths activities that the children were doing, they looked really fun! I hope that you are enjoying working and learning in a different way. I thought that you might like to try the activities that we did in the afternoon at home, we built a bug hotel. It was interesting to see all the ideas that everyone had, they were all different.
First, we had a look at lots of pictures of bug hotels; they can be any shape or size. We drew pictures of what we wanted our bug hotel to look like. Then we thought about the materials we would need, we used bits of wood, plastic pots and milk cartons, stones, grass and leaves. Everyone had a go at making a room and then we put them together to make a big hotel, it was great fun! There are some pictures for you to have a look at so you can see what we did; perhaps it will give you some ideas to try at home. The best thing is that bugs are not fussy so they don't mind what it looks like!
I hope you are all still washing your hands and keeping safe. We really miss seeing your happy faces so keep smiling.

Hi Squirrels! Hope you are all well. It has been lovely to see some of the activities you did over the weekend for VE Day. I hope you all got to enjoy the sunshine like I did in the garden with my family. We also took part in a virtual quiz with our friends which we won! I love quizzes and we have been playing them a lot as a family whilst we have been at home. I wonder if you could make up a quiz? Maybe you could write one about something we have learnt this year, a story we've read or one of our topics. I look forward to having a go at any you send me.

Hi Squirrels! What a lovely day it has been today! I spent the day in school, we were very busy. I saw Mrs Palin and she says hello to you all. Miss Jones did some poetry writing about VE Day with some of the children. I did some work about times when we have been brave. In the afternoon, we made some bunting to show our support for people who help us and we made medals to say thank you. Who would you make a medal for? I hope you all have had a good day and enjoyed some time in the sunshine.
Take care Mrs Flynn

Hi Squirrels. How are you? I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I went for a lovely walk on Saturday and I've been experimenting with recipes. I've been trying to bake biscuits, some have definitely worked better than others! Have you been doing any baking with your family? There are new Purple Mash activities today which I think you will enjoy. Thank you also for all the fantastic Family Trees you have been doing. There have been some very creative ideas and I know you have learnt a lot about your family history by doing them. Don't forget to keep reading too!

Hello Squirrels!
I was out on my walk today and I saw lots of pictures of rainbows, some small and some that are huge. I was wondering if you have done any rainbow pictures and put them in your windows? They made me smile as I walked by and I'm sure they cheer lots of other people up too. The wind has blown all the blossom from my apple tree and it looks like it has been snowing in my garden! I hope you are all well and enjoy the weekend with your families.

Hi Squirrels! Hope you are all having a good week. It is a shame the weather has changed, but I think the plants in my garden are appreciating the rain. It has also given me chance to try some more baking. I made some chocolate biscuits yesterday which went down well with my family. Today I have been looking through all the activities you have been completing . From book reviews, to decorated dinosaurs, plant labelling to Maths quizes I am very impressed with all your hard work. Keep letting me know of any other projects you have been enjoying at home, I really like hearing about them.

Hello Squirrels. I hope you had a great weekend, wasn't the weather lovely! I spent a lot of time in the garden enjoying the sunshine and reading my book. I have really been enjoying looking at all the work you have been doing at home. Year 1's, your Easter diaries were brilliant to read and Year R, I hope you enjoyed designing your own garden centre. Hello Squirrels, how are you? I was in school today and it seemed very strange to be there without you all. It was St George's day and we found out all about St George and the dragon. We made dragons with wings and we also made and decorated shields. I wonder if you could make a flag or a shield at home? I hope you enjoyed some time in the sunshine.
Take care and enjoy the weekend

Hi Squirrels!
I hope you are all well. I spent the day at school yesterday. It was a lovely day and we were very lucky with the weather. We read a story all about a little boy who got his kite stuck in a tree!. We drew pictures about what happened in the story and then spent the afternoon designing, making and testing our own kites. Miss Ashton and I were really impressed with the imaginative designs.

Hi Squirrels. I hope you are all well and enjoyed your Easter break. I've had a good Easter, eating eggs and spending lots of time in my garden. I've also been enjoying cooking and trying out new recipes. Most of them have been successful! I have really enjoyed hearing from you and looking at all the activities you have been doing. I have added more 'To do' jobs to Purple Mash today which I have seen some of you have already completed! One of the things I have really been enjoying is playing board games with my family. I would love to hear about your favourite games. You could even try and design your own!
Take care,

Hi Squirrels,
Yesterday I was in school. First we did a drama workshop about The Three Little Pigs, then some work from our home learning pack and finally lots of Easter activities in the afternoon. If you have done any Easter activities then let me know on Tapestry or there are lots of Easter activities on Purple Mash that you can explore. I also checked on the caterpillars and I got quite a shock!. The caterpillars were not crawling around in the pot any more. They were quite happily hanging down from the lid! What do you think is happening to them?

One is all about the life cycle of a caterpillar and tomorrow I will be going into school and checking how our caterpillars are. I will let you know if there are any changes on Wednesday.

Hi Squirrels!
Hope you are all well. It has been great looking at the home learning you have been doing. There has been some wonderful writing by the Year 1's about Spring lambs on Purple Mash. If you have completed a "to do" task I have left a comment for you. It has also been great to see some of the other activities you have been exploring on there, so well done to you all! Last time I asked if you had noticed any signs of Spring. If you want to let us know what you have spotted please upload your ideas to Tapestry or record in your book from your school pack. I look forward to seeing what you have noticed.
We hope you enjoy your weekend,

Hello Squirrels
It has been a very strange morning in school without you all. It is very quiet! It must be very strange for you too being at home with your family. We have been outside doing some tree and bark rubbings. Could you have a go at this in your garden? The caterpillars have also grown very big over the weekend. I wonder what is going to happen next.
Mrs Flynn and Mrs Freeland say hi and hope that you are remembering to do some reading every day.
