Junior Road Safety Officers
The Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) scheme gives school pupils the opportunity to lead on promoting road safety to their school communities in a fun and engaging way through peer education. JRSOs are trained by the Road Safety Team to provide them with road safety knowledge and ideas to use in school. The scheme promotes peer to peer education, with pupils sharing our key road safety messages - ensuring young people are aware of the dangers of the road from an early age.
Throughout the year, JRSOs could be involved in lots of activities such as:
- Maintaining a notice board and making sure the road safety information is up-to-date
- Talking in an Assembly or in Class on road safety themes
- Arranging competitions
- Awarding certificates
- Using the JRSO website
- Helping to appoint next year’s JRSO
