Mobile Phones in School
Please can we ask that you read the following information and complete the permission form at the bottom of this page if you would like your child to bring their mobile phone to school.
Mobile phones may be brought into school in very specific circumstances.
Children may bring a mobile phone to school if:
• There is a written agreement in place between the school and the family; and
• By having a mobile phone in school, it will play a part in securing the child’s personal safety on their journey to and/or from school as they are not accompanied by an adult – for part or all of their journey.
Expectations and Procedure
Before the phone is allowed in school:
• The child’s parent/carer will complete the permission form; a member of the Safeguarding Team will then confirm that the mobile phone can be brought into school. A copy of this form will be retained by the school.
Days that your child needs to bring their mobile phone to school:
• The mobile phone will be switched off as soon as they enter the school grounds in the morning – as they come through the gate.
• The mobile phone will be given to the class teacher, who will check it is switched off, and lock it away safely for the duration of the school day.
• The mobile phone will be returned to your child at the end of the school day. The mobile phone must remain switched off until your child has left the school grounds.
Further points to consider:
• The phone is brought into school at the owner’s own risk; the school accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage whilst the device is on school premises.
• If, during the course of the school day, your child is off school premises, for example on a trip, the mobile phone will remain in school.
