Safeguarding

As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. Safeguarding determines the actions that we take to keep all children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their school life.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the school mean that, where necessary, we take actions to:

  • Prevent harm
  • Promote wellbeing
  • Create safe environments
  • Respond to specific issues and vulnerabilities.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and all members of staff undergo regular safeguarding training. Please come and talk to a Designated Safeguarding Lead at anytime if you have any concerns about the welfare of our children. We can also support you with advice and guidance safeguarding, including E-safety.

If you have a safeguarding concern

Please either speak to DSL or one of our DDSLs (you can request to speak to us face-to-face or via the phone from the school office). You can also email the DSL/DDSLs email address: dsl@southwonston.hants.sch.uk

We use CPOMS as an online tool to record any safeguarding concerns we might have.

OUR SAFEGUARDING LEARNING

Across every year group we teach the children how to keep themselves safe, for example:

  • We regularly invite visitors into school such as the RNLI the Fire Service, School Nursing Team
  • We have focus days – Anti-Bullying Week, Safer internet Day
  • We follow the NSPCC Safeguarding programmes – Speak Out, Stay Safe, and talk PANTS
  • Safeguarding posters are displayed throughout our school.

Early Help services in Hampshire:

Identifying as early as possible if a child or family need support and helping them to access services is achieved with many support services working together to offer a child, young person or family ‘the right help at the right time’. Early Help will support any extra help a family needs.
